HIGH QUALITY AND ENJOYABLE..

The principle objective of all our sessions is to provide high quality instruction in a positive, supportive and fun environment. Our innovative sessions challenge young players to maximize their potential but we know that this can only be done in a setting that is both stimulating and fun.

INDIVIDUAL .. We aim to develop individual hockey skills and the knowledge of what it is to be a team player both on and off the ice.
Whatever a player’s goal, whether it be to make a rep team or to further enjoy hockey at a recreational level, our aim is to help him or her achieve it.

PRIVATE LESSONS.. Our broad experience across all age and skill levels now enables us to offer a customized experience for specific age groups. If you have a group of players in the same age group and would like a session / group of sessions tailor-made to their needs, contact us and we will design a proposal for you.

Sunday Morning Sessions

Dedicated to developing a better skilled, conditioned, game smart athlete.

Player Development Hour 7:30 AM (New Wilmot Recreation Centre - EAST PAD) - open for ages 6 to 14 yrs old

If one, two or all of your players would like to enhance their skills in power skating, puck handling, passing , shooting and understanding and reading plays on the ice then this hour would be perfect. The session will begin on Sundays at 7:30AM in New Hamburg and will last an hour long with high tempo and intense drills that will enhance all of their skill levels. The session will cost $25.00 per player and we will only be alotting 30 spots on the ice with 5 instructors. That is a 6:1 ratio which we know is more then competitive in our market. Players that are interested are to contact Tyler Ertel at tertel@hhtd.ca or at 519-884-3153.

Goaltender Development Hour 7:00 AM (New Wilmot Recreation Centre - WEST PAD) - open for ages 6 to 14 yrs old

If one or both of your goalies are looking to be trained by a goalie that played in the NHL and is great with kids then this is the hour for you. A variety of drills will be offered to all the kids and age appropriate styles and advice will be offered. The session will begin on Sundays at 7:00AM in New Hamburg and with drills that are appropriate for todays ever changing game. The session will cost $30.00 per player and we will be only alotting 15 spots on the ice with 5 instructors. That is a 3:1 ratio which we know is more then competitive in our market. Goaltenders that are interested are to contact Tyler Ertel at tertel@hhtd.ca or at 519-884-3153.

Powerskating Development

Power skating programs are created for all ages and abilities: Minor Hockey to Adult. The programs include training for explosive quickness and speed, agility, flexibility, strength, power and endurance.

Once a player reaches the Pee Wee or Bantam level, we are very careful not to change a player's skating. We make adjustments. We keep the group sizes small so that we can help players individually and thus, run drills that are specific to the needs for his/her improvement. Also, every athlete learns differently. Some of us learn visually, some verbally. By getting to know the athlete right away, we can easily identify this very important part of the learning process.
Some areas that we would work on are:

Stride improvement forward and backwardsProper body mechanics and positioning
Power positionWeight transfer
Speed and physical enduranceTransition skating
PivotingTurning
Edge controlLateral skating
Quick start and stopsCrossovers

Skills Development

As long as youth programs/associations continue to concentrate on games at the expense of severly low practice time, the development of players with great offensive skills will continue to decline. Games are ways for players to show off the talent and skills that have been developed in practice. As coaches concentrate on offensive and defensive systems at the expense of teaching individual skills, the development of our young players is going to decline. In a quality hockey skills session with a six to one student/instructor ratio, every participant should have a puck in their control over 40 minutes per hour unlike in a game. Some of the areas that we would target are:

Soft handsDeking
Agility skating with puckSpeed with puck
Deceptive movesPuck control
PowerControl
ScoringPositioning
TippingRebounds
AccuracyTiming

Goaltending Development

"Positioning is everything"
We believe that the basic fundamental of a goalies development is based on position. From Tyke aged beginning goalies to Pro athletes, all our students are taught to continually work towards improving their positioning skills. Stressing confident positioning is where all goalies start and is a good basic foundation to work on. Once positioning has been learned and demonstrated consistently our students are ready to start learning the mechanics of stance, movement, challenging shooters, rebound control, playing the puck, and directing play in the defensive zone. These are skills that with our highly experienced staff can contribute to the development of goaltenders aspiring to raise their game to a higher level.

CUSTOMIZE A SERIES OF SESSIONS

Great success for any player or goaltender comes from personalized instruction from repeat sessions. Our ability to personalize our approach for a player is enhanced if we are able to work with them at a series of sessions. Feel free to contact us about customizing a program for a player or goaltender. We will access the needs and recommend the programs that best fit your situation.

SPECIALIZED CLINICS WE OFFER

Skating clinics focus on form, technique, acceleration, agility, balance, speed and strength.

Shooting clinics include work on positioning, wristshots, snapshots, slapshots, and backhand shots. The focus is on power, accuracy, quick release, shooting in motion, one-timers and deking.

Puck Handling clinics focus on stick handling, puck protection, puck control at high speed, passing, one on one play, deking, and offensive and defensive situations.

Checking clinics focus on both receiving and giving a check with particular attention on the player having a balanced foundation. These sessions will also cover stick checks, one on one's, angling, delaying and containment.

Goaltender clinics focus on the basics of goaltending. We pay particular attention to experience level and tailor drills that present an appropriate challenge for each individual. Young goaltenders need more attention than they usually receive and we pride ourselves on the programs we have assembled for them.
